Before you decide

Wrinkle relaxers and fillers, explained plainly

Read what these treatments are and what to ask a provider, then request a consultation when you are ready.

Why injectables are handled differently

Facials sit on the skin. Injectables go into or under it, which is why they are treated as medical procedures. That shows up in a few ways:

  • They are given by licensed providers where state law allows.
  • Each state, including Oklahoma, sets who may inject and what supervision applies.
  • A health history and medicine list are needed before anything is decided.
  • Aftercare and follow-up are usually part of the plan.

Within that frame, the two main types are wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers. A licensed provider explains both at a consultation and says what, if anything, is suitable for you.

What a provider checks before injecting

A licensed provider usually asks about these before suggesting any injectable:

  • your health history, including nerve or muscle conditions and any autoimmune conditions
  • medicines and supplements, especially blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil and similar
  • allergies, including to numbing creams or past injectables
  • pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • cold sores, if fillers near the lips are discussed
  • past injectables, where and when, and how you got on
  • upcoming events, since bruising can show for a while

Honest answers help the provider decide what is suitable.

Planning around events

Bruising and swelling are possible after injectables, so timing is worth thinking about before you go ahead. Look at your calendar for weddings, photos, travel, presentations or anything else where you want to feel at ease. Note those dates and bring them to the consultation.

Also note any dental work or medical procedures coming up, and when you last had injectables, if ever. The licensed provider can then say whether now is a sensible time or whether to wait. Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, and the provider sets the plan with you.

Questions about injectables

Does this site inject anyone?

No. This site is not a clinic and has no providers. It passes your consultation request to a local provider in or near Tulsa. Any injectable is given by a licensed provider where state law allows, after a consultation where they decide what is suitable.

Do I need to stop any medicines first?

Do not stop a prescribed medicine without talking to the person who prescribed it. Some medicines and supplements, such as blood thinners, aspirin and fish oil, can make bruising more likely, so bring a full list to the consultation. The provider weighs it and decides what is suitable.

What should I ask an injector?

Ask about their license, training and how often they inject; which product they suggest and why; possible side effects; how they handle complications; and aftercare. The questions to ask page has a longer list you can print or copy.
